Tara Wilson was a fictional paralegal on the American legal drama The Practice. She was later employed as a lawyer on the spin-off series Boston Legal. She was played by Rhona Mitra.

About Tara[]

Tara was originally a paralegal at Young, Frutt & Berlutti, where she had a flirtation with Alan Shore. Tara was fired from Young, Frutt & Berlutti after informing Alan Shore of his impending dismissal from the firm, and helping him steal client files. This story arc helped pave the way for The Practice to spin-off to Boston Legal. Before Alan Shore was hired at Crane, Poole & Schmidt, he convinced Denny Crane to hire Tara as a paralegal. After graduating from law school, she became a lawyer at Crane, Poole & Schmidt. While there she became friends with Lori Colson and Sally Heep, though both relationships suffered as a consequence of her relationship with Alan Shore. She was also close to named partner Edwin Poole and deleted scenes from the first episode of Boston Legal show that Edwin was in love with her.

After Alan's break up with Sally Heep, Tara and Alan began dating. This was a relationship that was teased at through most of the final season of The Practice. Tara usually enjoyed Alan's antics but thought he went too far when he hired a group of men to beat up the man who punched him in a bar. Soon after a former lover of hers came to town, Tara was torn between the two of them and eventually broke it off with both of them realizing neither was right for her. Tara disappers from the series storyline soon after, the following episode being Rhona Mitra's final episode on the show.

Tara's break-up with Alan as well as her resignation from Crane,Poole and Schmidt devastated Alan and led him to both make attempts to prove to himself that Tara was wrong about him, he asks first year associate Sara Holt out to dinner for the purpose of proving that he can hold an intelligent conversation, and to suffer a relapse of night-terrors which he had previously suffered as a child. Tara was known as an ethical compass for Alan at first, though during the first and second seasons of Boston Legal, she had begun doing ethically questionable things that probably would not have occurred at Young, Frutt & Berlutti.
